TEEN ADVENTURE CAMP

LOMBOK, INDONESIA, 2019

DATE: 22-29 April 2019
DURATION: 8 days / 7 nights

NightSUP Lombok

LOCATION
Kuta Lombok is a somewhat shabby yet convenient base for exploring some of the best beaches and surf breaks in southern Lombok. Set upon a broad open bay, the town is making a transition from backpacker hideaway to becoming a more mainstream destination. Offshore, reefs teem with life; attracting marine mega-fauna such as turtles, sharks and manta rays. Along the coast, a string of spectacular beaches boasts powdery sand and are invitingly decorated with coconut palms. This is essentially a fishing village that has been ‘discovered’ by surfers, and which has been ear-marked for tourism development.

TRIP OVERVIEW

This is family friendly teen camp gives parents the chance to reconnect with their kids while vacationing on the island of adventure and fun!

We’ll learn to surf at stunning beaches in the south- west, snorkel and SUP the coral-fringed islands of the south, and raft and/or tube through the verdant green paddy fields and jungle of the island’s interior.

Our base for the week will be the luxurious Novotel Lombok; arguably the best resort on the island. It’s from there that we’ll night-SUP into town or - for those who are certified - board a dive boat to visit with a large friendly fat reef shark that lives in a cave nearby.

Designed to be a learning holiday, you’ll be accompanied by climate change scientist Chantal Clarke, who will undertake conservation workshops with the kids; setting each parent/child team a shirt film-making challenge to present to the remainder of the team at week’s end.

DRAFT ITINERARY

DAY ONE
Participants should arrive in Koeta Lombok the day prior so they are ready to start at 8:30am on Day One. We will head inland to enjoy our first activities: a spot of river tubing and a visit to a set of spectacular waterfalls. Welcome dinner on return to town.

DAY TWO
We spend the day island-hopping by boat and undertaking coral reef health checks while snorkelling.

Free evening.

DAY THREE
Free morning.

After lunch, we head to the south-west coast for a surf lesson and massage. Dinner at the Beach Club.

DAY FOUR

Today is a Free Day, so those who are certified can arrange to go scuba diving (there’s a great spot right in front of the resort), while others may prefer to look around town, indulge at the spa or hang by the pool.

We meet late afternoon for a dinner date that’s a cooking lesson in the hills!

DAY FIVE

It’ll be a wild day in the interior again today, as we go white water rafting through the rice paddies and jungle. Afterwards, we’ll take time to do a little photography; attempting to capture the essence of traditional Lombok living by wandering through a village and visiting a school.

Free evening.

DAY SIX

Another day on the water, exploring a little more of Lombok’s coastline by SUP. Be sure to keep an eye open for turtles popping up to breathe and manta rays as they glide across coral reefs below.

Free evening.

DAY SEVEN

This is our final day together, so the group can decide how they would like to spend it. We can explore more beaches, hike in the interior, paddle along the coast, visit more islands or simply make the most of the incredible resort facilities of Novotel Lombok.

Late afternoon, each parent/ child team will present their short-film project to the group in the movie-room.

DAY EIGHT

Feel free to enjoy resort facilities until your departure.
